Letter from the Director
Dear Swofford Parents and Community,
It is an honor and blessing to serve as the Director at Swofford Career Center, and to witness daily the maturation process our students undergo during this crucial time of life. Our school has a rich history of student achievement, and this success can be directly attributed to the hard work and dedication of our students, faculty and staff, supportive parents, and a caring community.
Our goal is to challenge each student at Swofford to become College and Career Ready through challenging academic and career classes. The staff at Swofford is second to none. All have been successful business and industry professionals and are committed to providing a rigorous, industry-based learning experience for all, with an additional emphasis on the necessary soft skills in order to meet industry expectations, as well as the attributes in the South Carolina Profile of the Graduate.
The 2026-2027 year will be my 8th year at Swofford Career Center. I served for 30 years in Rutherford County Schools NC, retiring as principal of Chase High School. In 2014 I was named principal of Rainbow Lake Middle School and served there for 4 years. I have been married for 41 years and have two children. My daughter taught special education students for several years and is now the founder of Awe and Wonder ministry, which designs Christ-centered curriculum for special needs students. My son is the Director of Club Sports strength training at Liberty University. I have 3 grandchildren, and I enjoy competitive fishing and lure building.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have a question or concern. Email (glovelace@swofford.k12.sc.us) is the easiest way to make contact, and I will be glad to call if you need to speak with me. The entire Swofford family looks forward to serving your family.
Sincerely,
Greg Lovelace
