Teacher of the Year
Swofford Career Center is happy to introduce our 2017-2018 Teacher of the Year Mr. Matt Sanders. Mr. Sanders is the Auto Collision instructor and has been with the Swofford Career Center for 6 years. Mr. Sanders seeks to teach his students much more than how to fix a dent, paint a car, or be successful in a shop; he strives to teach his students about work ethic, teamwork, problem solving, creativity and citizenship as well. Mr. Sanders’ motto is “Love people where they at.”
The Swofford Challenge Course was established in 1997 and has hosted countless Swofford Students and 9th grade students from Spartanburg School District 1 & 2. The Challenge Course provides an opportunity for students to learn through hands on activities and physical challenges that teach students about problem solving, teamwork, communication, leadership, and ingenuity. Students are asked to work with their classmates to creatively complete challenges. Over the years the Challenge Course has been updated and now is home to numerous activities of varying difficulties. It also meets the American Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) Standards for construction and safety. Mr. Tyler Hill is our current Challenge Course facilitator.
Future Farmers of America continues support of Swofford Horticulture.

Letter from the Director:
Dear Swofford Parents and Community,
As Director of H B Swofford Career Center, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great semester. We are all excited to have students back in our building with energy and enthusiasm. It is our mission to help every student feel welcomed, connected, and a part of the Swofford family. Additionally, we strive to challenge each student to become College And Career Ready through academic and career classes. Swofford has great teachers who have all been successful in business and industry before becoming a teacher. They utilize state-approved standards and local advisory committees to teach relevant skills required in the industry. Teachers also stress the work ethic and soft skills needed to be successful in life.
