The School-to-Careers program at Swofford offers the following opportunities for students:

Cooperative Education


Co-op provides opportunities for students to gain on-the-job experience related to their program of study. Students are eligible for co-op in the third semester with the approval of the instructor, high school principal, parents, and an approved employer. School officials monitor the student's progress on the job, along with the cooperation of the employer.

Qualifications for Co-op

  • 16 Years of age.

  • Be in advanced level course within a program or a completer.

  • Clean discipline record.

  • Passage of high school classes.

  • Good attendance.

  • Proof of insurance coverage.

  • Hold a valid driver's license and have transportation.

  • Permission from parents, school administration, and an approved training station.

  • Complete all necessary paperwork.

  • Pay all school fees.

Shadowing

Shadowing opportunities are available to Swofford students with instructor recommendation. Shadowing duration may last one day to several weeks and will occur with an approved work site/employer.


SWOFFORD HAS OVER 100 BUSINESS PARTNERS LOCATED THROUGHOUT SPARTANBURG COUNTY.  SWOFFORD WELCOMES BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY TO PARTNER WITH US TO PROVIDE REAL WORLD LEARNING EXPERIENCES FOR STUDENTS. OTHER WAYS TO PARTNER WITH SWOFFORD INCLUDE:

  • OFFERING JOB SHADOWING EXPERIENCES

  • SERVING ON PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEES

  • SPEAKING TO A GROUP OF STUDENTS

  • SPONSORING A STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP FOR HIGHER EDUCATION

  • DONATING EQUIPMENT OR SUPPLIES

  • BEING A VOCAL ADVOCATE & SUPPORTER FOR CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY EDUCATION WITHIN OUR COMMUNITY.
