Letter from the Director

Dear Swofford Parents and Community,

It is an honor and blessing to serve as the Director at Swofford Career Center, and to witness daily the maturation process our students undergo during this crucial time of life. Our school has a rich history of student achievement as measured by Certification/Licensing tests, Skills tests, EOC data, Completer totals, Dual Enrollment results, placement rates, Workkeys, and Technical Skill Attainment. This success can be directly attributed to the hard work and dedication of our students, faculty and staff, supportive parents, and a caring community.

Our goal is to challenge each student at Swofford to become College and Career Ready through challenging academic and career classes. The staff at Swofford is second to none. All have been successful business and industry professionals, and are committed to providing a rigorous, industry based learning experience for all, with an additional emphasis on the necessary soft skills in order to meet industry expectations, as well as the attributes in the South Carolina Profile of the Graduate.

This is my first year at Swofford Career Center. For the past 4 years I served as principal at Rainbow Lake Middle School after retiring from Rutherford County Schools in North Carolina. I have been married for 33
years and have two children. My daughter taught special education students for several years and is now a stay at home mom. My son is a recent graduate assistant at Liberty University in the Strength and Conditioning program. I also serve as a County Commissioner in Rutherford County. I enjoy competitive fishing as well as hunting.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have a question or concern. Email (glovelace@swofford.k12.sc.us) is the easiest way to make contact, and I will be glad to call if you need to speak with me. The entire Swofford family looks forward to serving your family.

Sincerely,
Greg Lovelace
